How to Beat Writers Block!

We have all been there. So many ideas, but nothing transfers onto the page like you want it to you. What is a blogger to do??

Try taking a cue from your toddler...

When something isn't what you want - Fake it. No truck in sight? Make the block, basket, or book into a truck!

-----> Use your imagination. Turn your block into a post. For instance - How would a Toddler fix writers block?

Too much clutter? Shove it all behind the couch. While you are hiding everything you are bound to find something you want to play with!

----->Write down all your ideas, see what pops out at you.

Shiny, New, and Pretty is always good for a temporary fix. Melt down imminent? Try pulling out a something new or different.

-----> Tackle something you aren't very familiar with. Or if that seems like too much, write about the shiny, new, pretty things that make you happy.

Distraction is King! Redirection is good even for just a moment!

-----> Go take a look at the blogs you love, read a magazine, watch a movie. You never know what will take your mind off of your blockage!

Repeat Repeat Repeat... Learn a new word, and try it out in many different ways!

-----> Go back to an old blog post, or something you wrote about that you love. Now try rewrite it from a new point of view. See what fits, or where it works best!

IF all else fails, have yourself a good cry. Tantrum, meltdown, hissy, scream into a pillow, throw your food, whatever you want to call it. Purge all those emotions and see what happens.

-----> I am pretty sure no Toddler translation is needed on this one. Get your emotions out.

Isn't it amazing what your Toddler can teach you? And I bet you thought you were the one teaching them!

I LOVE all of this! Great ideas. I hate when I get writers block. Wanted to thank you for your sweet comment on "Baby Brighton" :) Thank you! Hope you are having a great Christmas week! And if I don't talk to you before then, Merry Christmas!

Love, Marci

Such a good post...and a good lesson. Learn from your little ones and get to posting!

My little one inspires almost all of my content! Without him, I would have nothing to write about 75% of the time, ha!

I love this post!! It's always a good reminder to look at our little ones to get back to the basics right?
