Daily Vegas ~ Veteran's Day and One Amazing Family

Heroes

By Jared Jenkins

In war, there are lives risked and lives taken

Men and women giving their best to defend what they love

They defend their country

Their honor

Their people

Some call them soldiers

Others call them heroes

Our veterans have risked their lives for us

They have lived through hell and fought with honor

Many have killed

And regret doing so

For every life, there is a soul

For every soul, there is a life

For those who have died, we show great appreciation and remembrance

For those who live, along with them live the horrific memories of battle

Some, memories of defeat

Some, memories of victory

Our veterans were more than soldiers

They were, and still are heroes

My husband is a Veteran. I thanked him. I know we each know someone who is a Veteran. Have you thanked them? Have you thanked their family? Have you thanked the families of Vets who are at eternal rest? So many days pass us by and most never think about why you are able to do what you do. So please be sure on today; Veteran's Day, take a moment and say thank you.

My husband and I after our first deployment as a couple. He has since left the Air National Guard, and works as a civilian with the Military.

Jessica and her Husband

I have a friend whose strength is unbelievable. On August 19, 2009 her brother was killed in Afghanistan. He was only 24 years old.

Jessica is an amazingly talented photographer. When her son was diagnosed with cancer (he is now cancer FREE!!) she turned her talent into a beautiful project called Images of Hope. So I was not the least bit surprised when she announced she had started a new project called Picture the Fallen.

She unlike many families lives close enough to Arlington National Cemetery that she can go and visit her brother, and remember the special times with him. She realized while she was there that there are so many families can't just go to the National Cemetery due to time and distance.

Picture the Fallen gives family a beautiful image of their loved one. In a time of grief it provides families with a little bit of peace.

Picture the Fallen - Always on our Mind, Forever in our Hearts. Prints created for Gold Star Families.

Thank you Jessica, Thank you Paul, Thank you Dumont Family, and Thank you to all the Veteran's of all the wars.

I can't tell you what Rob's service and your being a military wife means to me, so thankful we have brave men like him to defend our freedoms.

Thanks Becca, he got out before we got married, so I was never a military wife, but he basically deploys like he is military, so I often feel like I am...

I love your photographs. My husband, father, and brother are all veterans. We all need to thank and salute all veterans for the sacrifices that they have made and continue to make for all of us and for this country. Thank you for reminding everyone how important our service men and women are.
