Growing So Fast!
Today was Kellan's six month appointment. He now is weighing in at 18lbs 14oz, and is a whooping 28 inches long. The doctor even commented how impressed by his strength he was while he was trying to check his ears, (Kellan was not really happy with that.) I can't believe we are already half way through his first year! Where does this time go?
Things we are going now that we are Six Months Old:
Kellan is now sitting on his own for long periods of time. He started to tripod at 5 months, but literally in the span of a week he just really got comfortable with it, and now reaches around for toys.
Kellan now has two teeth on the bottom. They are super cute. I think he may be getting more soon, but we will see.
Kellan has learned to bite, but I think we have put a stop to the biting while nursing. Everything goes into Kellan's mouth.
This month has brought many new sounds; some are more fun than others...
He has definitely found his scream. He used to whimper or whine when he was frustrated/tired/hungry, but now he screams bloody murder. I would like to say it’s cute, but after the first time, not so much...
Another new and favorite sound of Kellan's is his growl. He does it all the time and he even laughs when you growl back at him. What a goofy baby.
Kellan is also laughing more and more every day. Big full belly laughs. I continue to act a fool everyday trying for just one more laugh, because I just can't get enough.
First thing every morning, before most naps, and most nights, Kellan has begun to sing himself to sleep. I could sit outside his door for hours on end listening to him sing and talk in his crib. Fortunately it usually only last for about 5 minute and then he falls asleep, but in the morning he has been known to talk and sing for almost an hour just enjoying the sound of his own voice. It is so sweet.
Kellan now reaches for toys when you ask him if he wants something. He has also mastered the pacifier, but seems to 'forget' how to put it in if I am watching. When he thinks I can't see him, or thinks I'm not around it goes in no problem.
My favorite new development happened while we were in Minnesota. Kellan has started to reach for me or lean for me if someone else is holding him, and reach up for me if he is on the ground playing. That totally melts me heart.
Another sweet thing Kellan has started to do is kissing. He opens his mouth nice and wide, and then plants one right on your cheek. It really is cute.
I have been working on several baby signs with Kellan since he was born, and just recently he has just started to sign back "milk" to me. It is so neat to see him understand and respond to what I am saying.
There is so much more, I really could go on and on about him. His little personality continues to blossom daily. It is such a joy to see all the new things he is learning. He also has the best use of eyebrows I have ever seen. My baby loves to flirt with anyone who will give him a chance to do so. Kellan continues to be such a happy baby, and I continue to pinch myself wondering how I got so lucky to have a son like Kellan. I can't wait to see what this next month is going to bring. I love you my little Squishapillar. You are such a sweet boy and we are so proud to be your parents.
