Green so easy even a Toddler can do it! ~ Week 2 (Lights)
Last week I introduced a new series of posts I originally called Green is the New Black - teaching your children to love the earth one simple step at a time.
Well, after thinking on it, I wanted to change it, tweek it a bit if you will. Green is the New Black was a great idea, but I wanted to do something more tailored to my current lifestyle so....
Instead I am calling this series - Green so easy even a Toddler can do it! Missed my first post? No worries - you can catch up here!
This week I thought I would be a little more clear on exactly what this series is going to focus on. Basically my son is only 16.5 months old, but I think he at a perfect age to start learning simple steps to love the world we live in.
Trust me, I am the furthest thing from expert on being green. In fact, I am probably still considered a newbie greener, but my hope is that I can learn these habits right a long side my son. Together we can really make a difference by just making simple changes.
Squishy LOVES the in and out game. In out, in out, in out. Seriously I think he could do that all day long. So what better opportunity to start learning on and off than right now. Every time we enter a room, I pick him up to the light switch and let him turn it on. When we leave I let him push it off. He loves this. Sometimes I wish I could have the simple joys in life he does. His smile when he is doing this looks like a kid in a candy store with free reign.
My hope is that he will learn to turn off lights as he goes, and only use them when he needs them. A simple step so easy even a toddler can do it!
If you have a suggestions for this series or want to guest post? I would love to hear from you. Please send your ideas in to familyandlifeinlv at gmail dot com.

You're doing the right thing trying to teach that habt early! My sons each had fears of the dark so they turned on all lights everywhere- then left them. The fear has passed but they have "leave all lights on" ingrained in their brains. Bad for the planet. Bad for the budget!
OH!!! I love Vegas!! Your blog is super cute and love the header :o) My husband and I actually got married there, at Mandalay Bay.
Have a great weekend!!
Such a great idea! We have an automatic light in our bathroom which is really handy because Brock is so bad about remembering to turn off lights! The only problem with the auto-light? When you forget to switch it over from "auto" to "on" when you are in the shower. It always turns off about the time that I'm washing my face :(
Love that you are doing this with your little one! If you ever need ideas, suggestions or help just let me know. No expert either but from the education standpoint I do have some tricks up my sleeve!
