Post it Tuesday Fail!

My little Squishapillar was full of crazy energy today.  He is crawling, diving, grabbing, jumping, squirming, tossing, wiggling, and any other possible movement he can manage.  And on top of that he took very short naps... so while we enjoyed playing all day, this is all I could come up with before I go crash into my super comfy bed!

(although I have to say playing with my baby is way more fun then blogging post its ever could be!)

Squishapillar Meets the Easter Bunny!

Have I mentioned how much I love having my husband home? Not only do we get to spend mornings with him before he goes to work at 3pm, but having him home and doing things as a family on the weekends is REALLY fun!

Seriously, some people think that life isn't as fun after having a baby, but I beg to differ. Sure we can't go do some of the things we used to do, but this whole new side of Las Vegas has opened up to us now that we have Squish.

This weekend was jammed packed. Squish and I started out our Saturday right by picking up our bountiful basket (I am so in love with this co-op! www.bountifulbaskets.org), went to our Mommy/Baby Stroller Pilates class (while letting Dad sleep in), and then made a family trip to Cost-co, and the day finished of with steaks on the grill!

Sunday Squishy and I got up early (someone thought 6am was wake up time!), but we missed Church because Squish was a little fussy and snotty (getting over yet another cold), so we cleaned the kitchen instead.

By lunch time he went down for a nap, and so did I! (awww sleep). The Hubs got up and picked up the house (is there anything hotter than a husband who cleans? (even if it was by request of a 'honey-do' list)), and then we all went out to look for a new stroller.

SIDE NOTE: I am still kicking myself for choosing price of function when it came to picking out our stroller and carseat. Which really translated into not saving any money as we,

1. needed to move up car seats by 6 months because Squish was too tall, and
2. need a new stroller now because this one is crap falling apart already! :::big sigh:::

Sunday continued as we met some friends of ours at the Mall to take our boys to meet the Easter Bunny. I have to tell you, my son makes me laugh so hard sometimes. The first thing Squish wanted to do was rip off the bunny's glasses, then he must have realized he was sitting on what was basically a giant stuffed animal that moved, because he shot us a look like "Um guys, I am not really sure about this"!!

Thankfully the Easter bunny came equipped, and had staffed his booth with young ladies. (By now we all know my little man loves the ladies!!) Once distracted by the young ladies trying to get him to smile, he started giving his goofy faces, and huffed and puffed. (meanwhile Hubs and I are laughing pretty hard at this point!)

All in all the pictures came out great. Squishy looked like he wanted to show of his Karate skills, and we got some great pictures and wonderful family memories. Sunday ended with all of us cuddling on our new couch. (I swear this couch tries to eat you as soon as you sit in it.)

Once again it was a wonderful family weekend. I love spending time with my two favorite boys. I love doing things together as a family, and continuing to discover the family side of Las Vegas!

Tuckered out and folded over!

I love my silly little man, so of course when I got this picture I couldn't help but want to share it here.  I almost woke him up giggling when I saw it.Thankfully he was way to tuckered out to care much either way!  Kellan learned to go from his belly to sitting about a month ago.  He has not, however, figured out how to get back to his tummy sometimes.  Most times he can do it, but I am guessing that playing in your crib when you are super tired makes it even harder to remember how to get back to the beginning!  So here is my sweet little squishapillar all folded over and sleeping soundly!  Gosh I love this little man!!   (PS my mother has a picture of me sitting in a dining room chair when I was maybe 4ish folded over the same way sleeping.)

Things that make you go "awwwww!"

Post it Tuesday & More!

Thing have been busy around here, (as per usual!).  But busy also means fun in this house.  On Saturday Kellan's friend Finn came over to play while his Mommy and Daddy went to a movie. (We are currently trading date nights!)  It was fun to have two babies crawling around and being silly.  Neither of them wanted to take a nap because they were having so much fun playing.  Finally we went out for a walk, and that seemed to do the trick for both boys.  Rob and I very much enjoyed spending the day playing with them.  Although I must say, two is definetly more tiring then one!  Next time it will be our turn for a date.

I have to say, it is really nice to know that Kellan will be having fun with people he likes, (and we trust) while we are out enjoying our time as a married couple.  I am very grateful to have found friends through my Mommy groups and other baby ventures.  I know that if we needed to go somewhere last minute we have friends we could feel comfortable leaving Kellan with.  It is also nice to know that even though I have made several 'mommy' friends there are also some real friendships forming there outside of having a baby in common.  It really helps to make Vegas feel more like home.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

It's Kellan's first St. Patty's day.  And while the most Irish thing we are doing today is eating cabbage soup, I still put Kellan in his Kelly Green and took some pictures.  (As if I actually need an excuse to take pictures!)

Happy St. Patty's Day!  (Sweet Pose)

Living life as a Family (again) in Las Vegas!

I feel like it has been forever since I sat down to write a good blog entry. What can I say other than, while I am sadly neglecting my family blog, it is only because we are spending our days as a family. (It has truly been wonderful!) Rob is working swings so that allows him to be home with us in the morning. With the exception of mornings when errands have to be run, or Kellan and I have a baby class to attend, in which case Rob gets to sleep in, which works for him!

Having an extra set of hands with Kellan has truly been wonderful. Most mornings we spend together as a family enjoying play time. Rob loves playing with Kellan, and I have been able to get a shower most days without any problems! Rob has even been doing the 7am diaper change so I can lie in bed a little longer. (This is really nice for me as Kellan is still not sleeping through the night…) Simple tasks like going grocery shopping as a family, silly as it may seem, is fun and definitely more efficient!

The other morning while I was getting ready for the day, Rob brought Kellan in to see me. They were goofing off and being silly, (something I will never get tired of watching), and as Rob flew Kellan in like an airplane to say Hi to me. I waved at him, and to my surprise and huge excitement, Kellan waved right back at me. There we were, Rob and Squish sitting on our bed, and me bounding around the bathroom getting ready, taking every chance I could to wave at Kellan and have him wave back. It seems so simple, but really it is one of those moments that I know will stay with me as a wonderfully happy family memory. Since learning to wave “Hi” Kellan uses every opportunity he gets to do it, and receive bountiful praise from everyone for showing of his trick. My little Squish may be a total ham, but he sure is one smart ham!

Saturday we went to the Cubs vs White Sox game. They were playing a pre-season game in Las Vegas. It was really windy, so we didn’t stay the whole game (which was too bad, bc right as we left the Cubs scored 4 runs to come back and win!) But Kellan wasn’t enjoying the combination of wind, slightly chilly temp, and crazy screaming Chicago fans. There is always next year, but truthfully both Rob and I can’t wait to take him to a game at Wrigley Field and see the game as it was meant to be watched.

While we were not able to make it to the game last year, we did go the year before. And what a difference two years makes… Don’t believe me? Check it out yourself.

Two Years Ago

This Year!!

Daddy and Squishy having fun!

(Before anyone asks...
Kellan doesn't have a jacket on bc I was wearing him in the Ergo for almost the entire time!)

Kellan's mood for most of the game.
We did manage to get a few smiles...
(Although he pushed another tooth through that weekend - so that didn't help too much either!)

I like this one!
Kellan and Me!

I can't say it often enough, I am really really really loving being a wife and mom!  The best jobs in the world.  Sure they have their hard times, anyone who says otherwise is probably fibbing, but the pros outweigh any con or tough day.  All it takes is the sound of a laugh from my sweet little Squish, a smile from his beautiful face, a wave HI in the morning, a kind word at a perfectly timed moment from my husband, or one of his bear hugs after a long day, and let me tell you, "melts away" is a great way to put it. I will try to be better at keeping up with the blog, but it's hard when I am loving living life as a family (again) in Las Vegas!

A tooth-worthy teaser!

Kellan has been teething like crazy the past few weeks.  Since his two top teeth made an appearance at his 9 month-day, he has pushed through two more bottom teeth and is working on two more top teeth!  I personally think his little teeth are super cute, but if he could get the hang of not scraping/biting me when we nurse I would like them even more!!  I finally was able to get some pictures of these new teeth!

Check them out! (the only way I could get them on camera was to make Kellan laugh - which is always a fun time!!)

So now Kellan has 4 bottom and 2 top teeth!

You can see the other top teeth that are almost through in this picture!

My happy Squish!

Can you say mini-Rob??

Sorry had to share the overall pictures too!
(I love me some baby overalls!)

Happy 9 Monthday Kellan!

Happy 9 months sweet Kellan! I can’t believe it has been 9 months already, and still I find myself wondering, “Has it only been 9 months”? You have brought so much joy into our lives, your Daddy and I both wonder how life was before you came into our world. I love each and every day as you always do something new. Whether it’s a new facial expression, a new noise, or lately some new moves, you are very on the move now even though you still haven’t started to crawl. You are so close; I believe it will just happen in the blink of an eye.

Your Daddy is home now and loves every precious minute with you. He was so happy to make it back before you turned 9 months! The smiles you gave him when you saw him were absolutely heart melting. It was as if in your mind he never went anywhere. You were so excited to see him and hear his voice. You even reached for him right away. I can’t tell you how much that meant to your Daddy. You are such a sweet amazing little man, we love every minute watching you and loving you.

New things 9 months have brought:

You are getting very mobile. You love to roll everywhere, and if you see something you want, you roll right over to get it. You are seconds away from crawling. It makes me smile to watch you try. You get so frustrated sometimes, but boy if you only knew how close you are. (PS I predicted you would be 9 months when you started to crawl.)

You can now go from being on your butt sitting, flop onto your belly, and then push yourself back to the sitting position. You are such a strong little man. You also like to push up into your ‘baby yoga’ pose of downward facing dog, or as your Daddy likes to call it – your bear walk!

Each day brings new noises. People swear you are saying mama – but you have been making that noise since you were little little. I am waiting until you look up at me and say it. Baba, and gaga are just some of your new noises. Singing is still a daily staple, and no matter how long you do it, I will never tire of listening to you talk yourself to sleep or first thing in the morning. Other sounds you like to do are clicking your tongue against the roof of your mouth, and grinding down your sharp fangs!

Speaking of Fangs – you now have 5 teeth (your 5th poked through this morning) and you are working on 2 more as we speak. Your bottom two teeth came in at 5 months, and in the past couple of weeks we have seen your top two teeth come out as well as a third on the bottom. (Please remember Mommy’s aren’t for biting!)

After having quite the cold/infection you seem to finally be on the mend. And with feeling better, an appetite for solids is slowly starting to emerge again. So far you like blueberries, cherries, peaches, apricots, pears, apples, oatmeal, cereal, squash, carrots, sweet potatoes, and cauliflower. You aren’t so sure about your green veggie friends yet, but we are working on enjoying avocado, zucchini, peas, green beans, and asparagus. You tried egg yolks for the first time yesterday, but didn’t eat enough to form an opinion yet!

Other fun things you do now include, hugs, air kisses (when you want), slobbery kisses (when you can), throwing toys, throwing mini fits, squealing, splashing purposefully in the water (tubby time is still a favorite), mimic sounds and faces mommy makes, and we are still working on your baby signs. You can still do milk and all done. You understand a lot more, but Mommy and Milk have seemed to become the same sign. My new favorite trick of yours is reaching up when you want to be held. It makes me melt every time (gets your Daddy too!).

We love you so much little squishapillar. I am so excited to see what the next couple of months will bring, and yet long for the days to slow down so I can enjoy them more. I can’t believe in 3 short months you will be a toddler!!
